Family Road-Trip 2007; day 2

We pushed off Yuppy-style, starbucks in hand and kids straped in the Swedish-made family-mobile, west to the mountains…

The first day’s driving was beautiful, as we kept to 66West and 81 South, skipping like a stone through Tennessee before arriving in Hendersonville, NC yesterday afternoon.
Lucas had the best line of the day (as always), when driving up the mountainside in one of the Smokies’ he said “I can see my whole earth from here; I’m in space!”
We grabbed some tasty pizza at “2 guys, Pizza and Ribs” (what do they serve anyway?) and found that they had some excellent beer on tap and an easy way about them that made having the kids at the bar (no quick eating at tables that night) a real treat. It seemed that it was a popular enough joint to feed the young and old.
Today Jean joined the other princessa for a bridal luncheon while the kids and I ventured to downtown Hendersonville’s historic train museum, housed in a repurposed train depot. A pretty nice affair apparently, with sweet foods and…more sweet foods.
Jean met up with us and we went on the the historic air museum, which had the BEST THING EVER – a kid-sized rider airplane (we have photos) that Lucas Merrill enjoyed immensely. After that we went to the historic Carl Sandberg house and petted goats. Nifty.
Now we’re headed to the rehearsal dinner BBQ tonight before the wedding tomorrow…
We’ll do Chimney Rock Park tomorrow before the wedding at 5…
